ZigBee network expansion

ZigBee network expansion #

An example of how to expand a ZigBee network using multiple LogicMachines.

A LogicMachine with a ZigBee interface is limited to 50 ZigBee devices. But what if there are more devices, or the distance between them is too long to connect to a single ZigBee coordinator?

Then it is possible to use multiple LogicMachines with ZigBee interfaces.

Each LogicMachine's ZigBee coordinator uses a separate Channel, PAN ID and Network Key.

LM_1_Zigbee_01

LM_2_Zigbee_01

Add ZigBee devices to each LogicMachine.

LM_1_Zigbee_02

LM_2_Zigbee_02

LM_2_Zigbee_03

To manage ZigBee devices, create different group addresses so that they do not overlap in two LogicMachines.

Assign a common backbone key for KNX/IP Secure routing.

LM_1_KNX_IP_01

Duplicate all group addresses that need to be managed.

LM_1_KNX_grp_01

LM_2_KNX_grp_01

As a result, a single LogicMachine can manage all ZigBee network devices using KNX/IP Secure routing.
